Research Project Overview and Description:
This project upgrades an Augmented Reality (AR) mobile application to enhance archaeological tourism within Armenia’s Vedi River Valley. It blends 3D structural reconstructions of ancient ruins with local cultural oral histories to engage visitors dynamically. Structurally, it tests markerless and tracking multi-sensor alignment techniques for rural environments and integrates an AI-powered travel assistant to generate community-led, personalized itineraries.
Research Outcome:
A functional Android AR/AI mobile application featuring bilingual interactive tours (Armenian/English), an open-source research archive of documented oral histories and local maps, user evaluation study reports, and two academic journal submissions focusing on smart tourism and AR architecture.
