Tuyoo Games Field Trip
HKU Arts undergraduates joined Tuyoo Games in Beijing from 24 May to 6 June 2026 for a 14-day internship and training field trip in AI and gaming. The placement was unpaid, taught in Mandarin, and limited to 20 students.
The two weeks covered game design, AI game development, game engines, AI art, advertising, data analysis, storyboarding, video, and content marketing, with Peng Zhai of the Project Incubation Centre and Lixing Zhang of the Game Publishing Centre.
Techno-Humanities Summer Research Programme
High school students aged 16–18 spent four weeks at Run Run Shaw Tower, from 20 July to 14 August 2026, on mentor-led research in storytelling, culture, and technology. Teams of three worked in English and in person.
The projects moved from life transitions and literary sentiment to equestrian learning, an interactive display, AI companionship, cultural video, and local memory archives. Each week opened with a welcome, a lab tour, and a keynote, and closed with a showcase. Students received a Certificate of Completion, and one student each week received the Excellence in Creativity Award.
Future Visuals: Storytelling with AI
From 9 to 13 August 2026, students at Run Run Shaw Tower built either an interactive AI avatar or a film-style AI video. They worked in teams of three, with guest talks from Esme and Angus Lee, and presented the finished work to HKU faculty.
Everyone who completed the camp received a Certificate of Completion, and one or two groups in each track received an award.
