Research Project Overview and Description
This project investigates the integration of artificial intelligence across the entire game production pipeline, from narrative design to 3D world construction and programming. By testing AI Agentic design, the research explores how human-machine hybrid intelligence can streamline production and influence strategic creative decisions. The initiative aims to optimize game industry workflows and advance pedagogical approaches in game education.
This project, “GameMaking with AI Agents,” investigates the integration of AI throughout the entire game production pipeline. Acknowledging the complexity of game development, the research explores how AI agents can assist creators from initial concept generation and narrative design to 3D gameworld construction, character design, and gameplay programming. By practically testing seven specific production criteria using AI Agentic design, the study moves beyond theoretical contemplation to actual hands-on creation. Ultimately, the project views gaming as a major artistic medium comparable to cinema and seeks to understand how human-machine hybrid intelligence can streamline production, influence strategic creative decisions, and revolutionize future artistic and humanistic productions.
Research Outcome
The project aims to produce several concrete deliverables to demonstrate the effectiveness of AI-assisted game development. The primary outputs will be a five-minute game cinematic trailer and a functional playable demo that showcases three key scenes. Furthermore, the research will deliver a game opening design accompanied by a comprehensive video tutorial illustrating the AI Agentic design process. This tutorial is specifically designed as an educational resource for future student learners. Ultimately, these deliverables are expected to create a meaningful impact beyond academia by fundamentally transforming the gamemaking production pipeline, providing valuable insights for local game industry optimization, and significantly advancing the pedagogical approaches used in game education.
