Transition Guide: An Advising Platform for Major Life Transitions

Project Overview

The transition from the highly structured environment of a university into the independent “real world” represents one of the most volatile developmental shifts in a young adult’s life. Often referred to in psychology as emerging adulthood (ages 18–25), this period requires individuals to simultaneously navigate systemic changes across multiple life domains: securing employment, managing personal finances, establishing independent housing, and reconstructing their personal identity outside of an academic context.

While universities heavily invest in academic preparation, graduating students frequently report a significant gap in their practical life skills and psychological readiness, leading to heightened anxiety and a drop in self-efficacy.

To address this gap, this research introduces Transition Guide: An Advising Platform for Major Life Transitions, a web-based, multi-functional resource designed specifically for university students and recent graduates. Moving beyond traditional, text-heavy information repositories, this platform combines a practical “Information Wiki” with interactive, arts-based, and psychological tools—including an AI-driven reflection Tarot, a visual identity Vision Board, and a gamified habit tracker.
